Departing from the scenic town of Page, Arizona, your trip will begin with an exciting and exclusive ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. At river level, with the dam soaring 583 feet above you, you will board a comfortable, motorized pontoon raft for your journey downstream. For the next fifteen miles, you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river in the western United States. Your experienced guide will tell the story of the area's soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river's modern role in the Southwest's water and power delivery system. A stop to view an impressive set of ancient petroglyphs will offer you a chance to stretch your legs while bearing witness to the area's former inhabitance by ancient native cultures. If you choose, you may also refresh yourself by wading in the cold, clear river. The river portion of your trip ends at historic Lees Ferry, gateway to the Grand Canyon. Here you will board a luxury motor coach or van for the short ride back to Page, where your vehicle or other transportation awaits. Colorado River Discovery smooth water float trips are perfect anyone who wants to experience the majestic canyons of the Colorado River without the rapids. The wearing of lifejackets is optional for adults. Children ages four to twelve years must wear a lifejacket while the rafts are underway. The trip is offered to everyone four years and older. A non-refundable fee of $6 per person will be charged to your credit card upon confirmed booking. Should the tour be cancelled by the tour company due to weather that day or you cancel before 5 p.m. 24 hours prior to the day of departure, you will have the deposit amount credited toward a future booking made through the Powell Museum if used within the next 12 months. The remaining balance of the tour will be charged upon confirmed booking by Colorado River Discovery, LLC. They will provide a full refund of the amount they have charged for cancellations occurring before 5 p.m. 24 hours prior to the day of departure. Cancellations made after 5 p.m. 24 hours prior to the day of departure and no-shows will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee. LAKE POWELL BOAT TOURSRainbow BridgeNOTE: Due to low lake level, passengers no longer are able to see Rainbow Bridge from where the tour boat docks. A 1.5 mile walk/hike is involved each way. Be advised if you have health conditions or problems walking that the boat tour office recommends not walking all the way to the Monument from the boat. It is strongly recommended that you wear tennis shoes/sneakers or hiking boots for walk along the floating dock and along the dirt pathway to and from Rainbow Bridge. Filled water bottles are provided to each passenger as you board the boat at Wahweap Lodge. You may refill the bottles on the boat as needed. As you make the walk to and from the boat at Rainbow Bridge, please drink the water to remain hydrated, especially in the summer months.
Boat tours from Bullfrog and Hall's Crossing have been suspended until further notice All rates are plus tax. Email Reservations@PowellMuseum.org for times and availability; tours are not available every day and minimum bookings are required. Notes Regarding All Boat Tours:
** Lake Powell is part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a National Park Service Fee Area. Entrance fee is $15 per non-commercial vehicle, which is good for one to seven days. Park also accepts Golden Eagle, Golden Age and National Parks pass. If you don't have one already and are going to other national park areas before coming to Page, buy one at the first national park you enter. This will save money. BOAT RENTALSIf there are more than 2 people in your group, you might consider renting a boat, especially if you want to see Rainbow Bridge, as it would be more economical and you could take your time, go swimming, etc. There are at least three companies that do boat rentals from Page. We can book your boat rental as the rental companies give a commission to the Powell Museum, Page's non-profit history center, and it does NOT cost you any extra to let us make the reservation. You also can rent boats at the lake and we do those reservations, too, and the lake boat company also gives the museum a donation for making the reservations for rentals as well as the boat tours. To arrange a boat rental, write to Reservations@PowellMuseum.org or call us at (928) 645-9496.
